Juvenile Violence to be Discussed at April 9 Meeting
Juvenile violence has dominated the headlines in South Florida for the past few years. At its April meeting, Broward Women’s Alliance explores this issue with Broward Assistant State Attorney Maria Schneider, who heads the Broward State Attorney's Office Juvenile Unit, Broward forensic psychologist Dr. Trudy Block-Garfield, and NSU professor Dr. Anne Rambo, an anti-bullying expert.
Before joining the State Attorney’s Office Juvenile Unit in 1999, Schneider worked in its felony trial unit, the sex crimes unit, organized crime/gang unit and prosecuted career criminals. Dr. Block-Garfield, who practices in Fort Lauderdale, has lectured and written extensively on the topics of juvenile and domestic violence. In 2003, Dr. Rambo helped develop the SUPERB (Students United with Parents and Educators to Resolve Bullying) program curriculum for six BrowardCounty schools.

Joy Satterlee to be Honored
Joy Satterlee has been named an honoree for the 19th Annual Encore Awards presented by ArtServe. As most of you know, Joy is the executive director of the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. A luncheon to honor Joy and the other award winners will be hosted on May 18 at Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six. Mark your calendars. Great job, Joy!
