Holiday Happenings:
BWA members are being asked to celebrate the holidays in two ways this year. We would like everyone to bring a $20 gift to the meeting for a member gift exchange to add to the festive holiday spirit at the luncheon
In addition, we would like everyone to bring toiletry items for women living at Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Covenant House and The Salvation Army. Needed items include shampoo, lotion, toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs, soap deodorant, etc.

Dr. Lanalee Araba Sam is the speaker for our December meeting. Dr. Sam is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist, who has been practicing medicine for over ten years. She graduated from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania Medical School and then relocated to South Florida in 2002. She is the Founder and Medical Director of Elite Obstetrics and Gynecology, a practice committed to providing exceptional health care to women who want a more personalized medical experience. Dr. Sam believes that quality should always come before quantity in terms of health care, which is why she created her concierge obstetrical care packages that clearly reflect this philosophy. |

We extend special congratulations to Connie Chaney on her accomplishments for the community.
Connie was the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Southern Florida's Woman of the Year for 2007. Because she raised over $50,000 she had the opportunity to have a Society-funded researcher named in honor of her efforts. The award given to Connie reads, "The Society is pleased to name the research efforts of Dr. Ke Hu in honor of the Friends and Family of Connie Chaney. Your work in the field of blood cancer research will make a significant difference in the lives of the patients we serve."

Elly du Pré has been elected Vice President of Florida Association of Agencies Serving the Blind, a statewide consortium of 15 private, non-profit agencies similar in mission to the Lighthouse of Broward.
Former member, Gretchen Gettemy Thompson, has returned from cold Minnesota to live in sunny Florida with a smile on her face - and 120 lbs lighter. |
