September 2008 2nd Edition - Issue: #35
Welcome:
Welcome to a new year of Broward Women’s Alliance meetings, productive networking, great speakers, food and friendships!

I’m delighted to serve as your president for 2008-2009, and my fabulous Executive Committee and I stand ready to hear your thoughts and ideas for making our time together even better.

Great news - we are moving back to Mondays as our meeting day at the Tower Club. Last year, we were forced to shift to Tuesdays, and experienced a slight membership drop. Most members seem to adamantly prefer Mondays for our meetings, and I’m pleased that we can oblige!

My goals for this year are simple: to increase membership, and to increase the number of college scholarships we are able to award worthy Broward women.

My predecessor Maria Sanjuan wanted to reach a membership goal of 100. She came close, and I want us to finish the job she started. I urge all of you to introduce executive women colleagues to the Broward Women’s Alliance by inviting them to one of our monthly meetings this fall. The earlier they learn about BWA and get involved, the more benefit they’ll receive. You can learn more about the application process on our website, or speak with Membership Chair Geri Troddick at our first meeting.

I’m hoping we can also plan a second Scholarship Fund fundraiser this year and some ideas are already cooking. Please let me know if you want to be involved in this project.

Your membership invoice will be in the mail the week of Sept. 1. If you’re so inclined, please bring checks with you to the meeting. Treasurer Anne McMichael will be happy to take them.

See you all on Monday, Sept. 8 for the beginning of an exciting year!

Dorothy

Connie Chaney has had a busy and exciting August, spending time in North Carolina and more importantly her daughter getting married on 8/9/08 at The Addison in Boca Raton.  Connie reports that she looked so beautiful and they are very happy. They will be starting their honeymoon next week in Paris, then Mediterranean cruise & Egypt and back to Rome before coming back to Fort Lauderdale. Sounds like a very romantic way to start their life together.
