Our final meeting before the Summer break is June 8 so please join us.

The Honorable Stacy Ritter, Mayor of Broward County, is our guest speaker and will also be swearing in the BWA officers for 2009-10:

We are very pleased to welcome our scholarship recipients to the luncheon.  Thanks to the efforts of the generous members of BWA, we are awarding a record amount of scholarship dollars this year to very deserving women. Deepest gratitude to Gloria Kline and the scholarship committee for all of their hard work.

Special thanks to Nancy Olson and Florida Marlins for hosting BWA members to the game and donating $1,000 to the BWA scholarship fund.

Welcome New Members:
Melissa Milroy was nominated to BWA by Suzanne Higgins.  Melissa is the marketing manager of The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale. She serves on the Beach Council and received the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award.
Meeting Information/Speaker:

As the Mayor, Stacy Ritter is the official representative and ceremonial dignitary of the County, responsible for providing leadership on issues facing the County. The Mayor presides over Commission meetings, sets the agenda and has the authority to call the Commission into special sessions as is necessary.

Member News:

Kim Hill sends warm wishes to everyone and thanks you for your kindness.  She recently moved to New York.

Barbara Van Voast has received certification as a Level Four Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner.

Ellen Crane Schulman, APR, president of Ellen Schulman Public Relations, has been appointed by the Broward Cultural Council to serve on the Creative Economy Committee as part of the 2020 Community Cultural Plan.

Diane Dobin and her brother Mike were recently named one of "40 under 40" by South Florida Business Journal.  The event takes place on June 18 at DCOTA at 5:30  p.m.

 Maria Soldani was the guest speaker at the kick-off for Go Red for Women’s Luncheon in Bonita Springs.  She also facilitated two humorous workshops at the recent Professional Development & Training day at Broward College and has been invited to present at the June meeting of the American Businesswomen Association as well as at the annual retreat of the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce.

Ruth Spiegel announces the opening of their 5th Cold Stone Creamery during July (ice cream month) in Promenda in Coconut Creek.  Also, Ruth is  privileged to serve on the Executive Leadership Team for the 2009 Go Red for Women Campaign of the American Heart Association.

Ann Robbins was recently interviewed by CNN on a Matchmaking Story.  Also, she is expanding her business to Charlotte, NC with the sale of her first LifeWorks Matchmaking License Agreement.  Heart and Soul Matchmaking will operate under license with LifeWorks Matchmaking.
